Directions: Enter Francois road – via Umbilo road and then proceed right over the top of the hill, further down enter Msinsi Reserve through the entrance gate to the sports fields of the University of KZN – meet at the cricket oval area.

Wednesday 16 October 08h30 Burman Bush NR – Lesley Frescura. The rains should have started and the many migrants will be back and breeding will be in full swing. Directions: Take Windermere Road from Argyle Road and continue along it until the end and turn left into Goodwin Road. Go past the Bill Buchanan home and then follow the signs from the Goodwin Drive/Burman Drive junction to the parking area on the left near the gate. Bring tea for afterwards.

Sunday 20 October. Bird photographic outing 07h00 at the main parking at Botanic gardens. Bring camera with charged battery and memory card with space for 12 to 20 images. Bring a lens of minimum 300, preferably 400 or 500 and a tripod or monopod or some means of keeping the camera and lens stable whilst in use. After taking the pictures we will get together to look at them and see where we could improve. For this we will go to a shady area so bring table and chair and laptop with charged battery and means of transferring images onto laptop, either cable connected to camera or card reader in laptop or free standing card reader. Have image viewing program on laptop which can access the exif data, suggested program is Faststone image viewer which is available for free. Also bring an old edition of a birding magazine.
