I am sure you are all aware that Saturday 28 November is Birdlife South Africa’s Birding Big Day (BBD). The biggest event on the South African birding calendar. Since we have been denied many of our events this year, BBD 2020 should be a welcome opportunity to get out and do some birding. It is not too late to participate – just go to https://www.birdlife.org.za/support-us/events/birding-big-day-2020/ to register and, with Birdlasser on your phone, you will be ready to start early on Saturday morning.
We have good news for those of you who would like to stay home and follow along on the day. BLPN has a community group entering this fun event. A group of 9 BLPN members is going with Dave Rimmer and Kingdom Birding on a weekend exploration to birding hotspots in northern KZN which will take in Manyoni, uMkhuze, Mpempe and Muzi pans. We have entered as the ‘BLPN MankhuzimpeKings’ and our sightings for the 24 hours of BBD will be in the Manyoni Game Reserve portion of the trip.
