We had a good turnout with with sixteen people attending . It was a warm, sunny day and the birds were active.

Sue (who looks after the park for the conservancy) gave us an update on all the improvements that have been done by her team of volunteers. She then led most of the people on a walk. They came across an area that kept them entertained for ages with plenty of birds such as 3 different sunbirds and the beautiful Purple-crested Turaco.

Water birds flew over in the guise of a Hamerkop and a pair of Egyptian Geese, they were joined in the sky by African Palm Swiftand 2 species of Swallow, namely Barn and Lesser Striped.

The forested area yielded the shy Tambourine Dove, Red-capped Robin-chat and the noisy Yellow-bellied Greenbul while the not so shy Olive Thrush flew around a few times.

The Speckled Mousebirds were active in the bushes along with Tawny-flanked Prinias and Green-backed Camaropteras.

Southern Black Flycatchers were all around and became quite tame.

There wasn’t much relaxing as the birds kept coming…

We ended up with a healthy 44 species on the list.
