The day dawned on perfect weather, and it was with much anticipation that I drove to North Park where we hadn’t been for a while. What a day, very few birds but plenty of butterflies!
We started of sitting to see what was around, we had a beautiful Green-veined Charaxes come and sit in front of us which most people got good views of.

We heard the normal culprits in Dark-capped Bulbul, Red-eyed Dove, Hadeda Ibis and Purple-crested Turaco although they were not showing. We we did see Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird and Amethyst Sunbird.

A while later some people went for a walk, but again not much was being seen. There were a pair of Egyptian Geese at the weir and all 3 possible Wagtails showed at different times.

Some unusual insects were also observed!

We did have a fly past of a couple of birds namely, Grey Heron, Black-headed Heron and a Long-crested Eagle.

We ended up the quiet morning with 34 birds (mainly heard) and 26 butterflies. All this made me wonder whether it was a bird club or a lepsoc outing!
