The pictures show 2 birds – an Egret and a Cuckoo. Which ones are they?

The Egret was seen at Muzi Pan among a number of other Cattle Egrets.

The Cuckoo was seen last weekend at Tembe.

  1. Roy & Steve says:

Juvenile female Emerald Cuckoo that lacks the whilte smudge above the ear coverts and the ventral bars are close and dark bronze/brown.

  2. Roy & Steve says:

Cattle Egret having a short neck, rather robust and shortish bill which is bright orange. The JIZZ is short and squat to that of an Intermediate (Yellow-billed) Egret. I have recently seen an Intermediate Egret with black legs up to the thigh, presuming that this bird was not in breeding plumage.

I agree with Desire Pelser: Female Emerald Cuckoo and probably an Intermediate Egret

  4. Desire' Pelser says:

Cuckoo … female African Emerald; Egret … Intermediate?

    JUVENILE BATELEUR
