BEKZN BIRD WALK PALMIET NATURE RESERVE with Terry Walls
Palmiet Nature Reserve a little gem located in Westville.  The reserve is made up of a wide variety of natural habitats ranging from forests to grassland, riverine and rocky cliffs.  Specials that we have seen on previous visits are Mountain Wagtails and Half-collared Kingfisher and Pygmy Kingfisher.

BEKZN BIRD WALK TANGLEWOOD NATURE RESERVE

Hidden below the cliffs alongside the Kloof Country Club area is a nature sanctuary called Tanglewood Farm.  160 acres of grassland and pristine forest between Kloof and the factories of Westmead. An impressive variety of birds can be found here, the specials will hopefully include, Narina Trogon, Crowned Eagle, Knysna Turaco, African Golden Weaver, Green Wood-hoopoe, Olive Woodpecker, Common Square Tailed Drongo, Lazy Cisticola, Croaking Cisticola.

BEKZN SIT IN
BLUFF NATURE RESERVE with Jenny Norman 
We will sit in the hide and have a view of the wetland and patch of coastal lowland forest. The reserve has a good range of vegetation and birdlife.  Some of the birds we have seen on previous visits are African Swamp Hen, African Jacana, Reed Cormorant, Spur-winged Geese, Malachite Kingfisher.

BEKZN ATLAS 2022

We will be atlassing the Sappi Stanger wetlands and surrounds through to the Mount Moreland area on the backroads.  This is a great opportunity to learn birds by repetition by sight and sound reinforced because it is done over an exteneded time (2-4 hours).  Anyone wishing to join and learn about atlassing or joining to increase the atlassing effort please Register using the link:
