Report back – Saturday 2nd February – Iphiti.

Report back – Saturday 2nd February – Iphiti.
20 members and the bird list was 58. 2nd February 2013 was Worlds Wetland Day and no better place than Ipithi for the celebration. The conservancy have placed strategic planks over the more serious boggy areas and there is a boardwalk over the actual wetland area at the bottom of the reserve.
Iphiti is a gem of a small nature reserve, we had good weather and lots of excellent birding. The highlight was a pair of African Harrier Hawks and their immature offspring begging desperately for food (it appeared to no avail). We also had excellent views of Red-chested Cuckoo, Giant Kingfisher, Golden Weaver and many more, the Emerald Cuckoo was heard but was not seen!
Cheers – Elena
